The story of Irene

In 1986, Irene's life changed completely when she was given an unexpected opportunity to study nursing in Salur, India. Despite her family's poverty, she was determined to take this opportunity. Through an outstanding sponsorship, she went from a hospital auxiliary worker to a nursing diploma and postgraduate degree.

Driven by faith, Irene believes that God guided her journey to the leprosy mission and to Salur, where she still cares for leprosy sufferers today. Her story shows the importance of education and professional commitment. As retirement approaches, Irene is concerned about the future of leprosy care. She sees younger nurses focusing on money rather than service. Nevertheless, she remains committed to encouraging the next generation to continue this important work.

Irene's testimony reminds us that education and a commitment to compassion can overcome all obstacles and have a profound impact on lives.
