We are proud to be a member of the world's largest and most experienced leprosy organisation, The Leprosy Mission International - Global Fellowship, the only one from Eastern Europe with a 149-year history.
We feel privileged to be able to contribute to the work of this organisation worldwide, fighting leprosy for as long as this terrible affliction continues to exist on Earth.
We are grateful that the Leprosy Mission has been active in Hungary for 49 years, which, thanks to the vocation of Károly Dobos, became an example of the Hungarian people's willingness to sacrifice in the most difficult times. We wish to continue this.
We consider it our responsibility to motivate Hungarian people and communities to charity, mercy and love in action.
We are confident that in doing so we are also serving the moral good of our country and our people.
Let's remember that we and leprosy organisations are still very much needed today, because although leprosy is easily curable today, it is still diagnosed every 2 minutes in someone on the planet, and 1 in 5 of them is a child.
Leprosy is a living misery. It could be a thing of the past, because there is a cure. Those who are at risk don't know it. If they know, they can't get it. Especially not to prevent the disease. Because it's part and parcel of the deep depression, of the many other dangers of infection. That's why we have to help to get leprosy off the planet.
We have a lot to do.
We are convinced that we are serving a good cause, because human lives are being holistically transformed through the Leprosy Mission: physically, spiritually, mentally, socially.
To be part of it and to contribute to it: the greatest joy and privilege.
